Annual Conference Registration

This is it! Your Annual Conference information and registration package. Please feel free to make copies of the registration forms and pass them out to every RT you know! Remember, as much as we try, we don’t always reach every person we need to so I need your help to ensure everyone has a chance to come to the conference!
This year’s conference is in Cheyenne from September 16th through the 19th at the Hitching Post Inn. We’ve worked closely with them to bring you a quite reasonable room rate at just $69/night. If that’s not quite enough, the Hitching Post’s own Lincoln Court Motel located on the premises offers rooms at an even lower $49/night.
We will provide you dinners on both Thursday and Friday night for a low $5 per person, but we must have a minimum of 35 reservations or this deal will be canceled. Of course, your Saturday Banquet meal is included in your registration fee. Now, to make this even better, we will pay for your lunches on both Friday and Saturday!
Friday evening, the WSRT and Cheyenne Radiology Group will present to you live and in person, Mr. John T. Sheets and his Moments of Magic & Illusion! John is a professional and award winning magician from Denver, CO and will delight you for the evening with his skills. It’s a show you will not want to miss.
Now, the important stuff! We’re offering a total of over 31 credit hours at this year’s conference. How can we do that? First, we will again offer evening courses both Thursday and Friday evenings (don’t worry though, you won’t miss the magic show) and new this year – we will offer three classes on Sunday morning as well!
We’ve also taken many steps this year to bring to you not only many local and respected speakers, but some well-known, national speakers as well.
Look for Jack Barr, M.S., RT(R), FASRT as this year’s keynote speaker. Jack is from Colorado and a Fellow of the ASRT and will talk to us about Putting the Magic Back in Radiography.
Liana Watson, B.A., RT(R)(M), RDMS, RVT from our neighbors to the east in Nebraska will also be here this year. Liana is the ASRT’s own newly elected Speaker of the House and will talk to us about It’s Not Who You Are, It’s What You Do and Hepatobiliary Ultrasound.
Barb Ossias, representing Nycomed, Cathy Davila of EZ-Em, Amy Broadie, sponsored by General Electric, Jeanne Neuman, sponsored by Cook, Inc., Danny Gonzales from our New Mexico affiliate, Rich Lutz of Philips Medical Systems and Dr. Ed Dice, ARRT Trustee will be among the nationally and regionally well known speakers.
Tom Kirk, Tim Kirk, Lisa Fink, Dr. Sandra Guidry, Dr. Carrie Thoms, Denise Burke, Joann Davidson, Dr. Ann Reyes, Jeff Tammen, Marty Brammer, Alan Heffron, Dr. Harlan Ribnik, Dr. Jim Hubbard, Dr. Fred Barton, Sue Casteneda, Dr. Geoff Smith, Jim Hueber, Danny Noldner and Kristy Nystrom are also slated to speak this year. We may even see a discussion by our very own President, Linda Holden! Be sure to register today!

President’s Message
Linda K. Holden

My term as your president is just about over for me and I want to thank all of you who voted for me and allowed me to do this just one more time. The WSRT has become my family, my social life and my cause. I am so blessed to be allowed to do what I enjoy.
I believe that this has been a busy and productive year. There are no fancy proposals and tricks to get people interested in what we are doing......… we decided to work mainly for those who currently are members and want to be continue to be members. So in the past year, these are the things that were accomplished by your president:
       1. Began the process of having board liability insurance.
       2. Created a WSRT flyer and sent it out to all licensed non-RT's with an invitation to join the WSRT.
       3. Sent out a survey to see ways in which we can better meet the needs of not only our members but our profession. It is a very good way to really hear the voices of the imaging professionals that are working in Wyoming today. The results of that survey will be done soon and hopefully ready for you to have by the conference and the next cathode.
       4. As president I represented you as a Wyoming affiliate delegate along with Lesli Troastle, president-elect. As president I nominated Starla Mason for Leadership Camp 2000, and carried the Wyoming flag during the beginning processional at the House of Delegates. I also worked with the Grass Roots committee to try to find ways for each state to make an impact on the legislation that will be in front of our congressman come this fall.
In March, delegates and state representatives went to Washington to meet with individual congressmen and several groups of Senators and House of Representatives to lobby for the minimum standards bill that will be addressed in the fall. Because of the cost, Wyoming was not able to fund someone.
Since Wyoming is so rural and the population is even smaller, it was felt that a grass roots effort for the minimum standard would be the only way Wyoming could actively participate. So we are asking that you take the petition in your cathode (click on the link and print it) and have as many people as you can sign it. They do not have to be registered voters, only concerned Wyoming citizens who use health care services in this state.
The WSRT will make copies and send a set to Thomas, Enzi and Cubin so that they can see how the Wyoming contingency feels about this legislation. I urge all of you to sign it and have everyone you know sign it and return it to me, Linda K. Holden, 1919 Cheyenne Place, Cheyenne, Wyoming 8200l. Now is the time to do something not only for your profession but for yourself and for anyone you love who may need good, quality care by a minimally trained health care provider. The more names we have the more impact we can make on the people on Capitol Hill. I would like to show them, the ASRT and all the other states just how powerful, that little state out WEST really is.
Hope you have a great summer and also hope to see you in Cheyenne at the Hitching Post this year.

Adios,   lkh
